Every game on the slate gets a projected score and win odds — from each team's scoring and shot rates, home ice, rest and the two Projected starters. Only a game that grades out A+, A, B+ or B is posted as a play, with the stats that back it; everything below that is shown as a projected matchup and nothing more. Starters stay Projected until the club confirms them, every call is graded from the final, and the record below is computed from those finals — nobody edits a result after the fact. Honest note: no betting lines go into the model, so this is a predictor, not a betting edge.

Graded from the finals
Every play is posted the morning of the game and graded straight up and on the puck line from the final score. Only plays graded A+, A, B+ or B count; the projected matchups are tracked separately under “Every game”.

The grade is our conviction in our own projection — how far apart the projected goals are and whether the pieces agree. A play is posted only at A+, A, B+ or B; below that the game is a projected matchup, not a call.
A high grade means a clearer mismatch — and the books see the same mismatch. A high grade does not mean a betting edge. The model was backtested on two full seasons before launch, held out and graded against the finals; the record above is the only scoreboard we publish.
Every game gets a Projected score. Each team's goals and shots for and against, opponent-adjusted and shrunk toward the league early in the year, set the two scoring rates; last season carries in until a team has a body of work. Every rating is computed as of that game's puck drop, using only games already played, so nothing is graded with hindsight.
Only A+, A, B+ or B is a play.A posted play carries the side, our win odds and the two or three real numbers that back it — team scoring and shot rates with the league rank, the starter's save rate and form, rest. A game that grades below a B is shown as a projected matchup: the Projected starters and the Projected score, no pick, and it never counts in the record.
Projected starters until confirmed. Clubs name their goalie on game day, often at the morning skate. Until then each card carries the Projected starter — the probable from the same feed our research vault uses, or our rotation read — and flips him to Confirmed when the club does. Each starter is rated on goals saved above the league-average save rate per 60 minutes, on the season, over his last ten starts and split home and road. We tested that hard: with the goalie term switched off the model called the same share of winners, within a point, in both held-out seasons — so the starter is on the card because he matters to the matchup, not because he is the secret sauce.
Rest and home ice. The second night of a back-to-back and long road trips cost real goals; home ice is worth a small, measured bump.
Posted game-day morning, graded from the final. The card goes up the morning of the slate and the picks are frozen from then on — a late goalie change updates the starter on the card, never the call. Every play is graded straight up and on the puck line (always 1.5 in the NHL) the moment the game is final, and once graded it is public. The DraftKings number is shown for context only; no line went into any projection.
