NFL Week 6 Predictions & Best Bets
A Thursday nighter in Denver, the Jaguars' second week in London, and thirteen best bets. Justin's card for Tapp's Edge members.
··7 min read
Fourteen games, thirteen plays, and a Thursday nighter that comes down to whether Seattle can stop handing the ball away.
Let's get into it.
THURSDAY NIGHT
SEATTLE SEAHAWKS @
DENVER BRONCOS
Thursday, October 15 | 5:15 PM PT | Prime Video
Line: Seahawks -2.5 | O/U: 40.5
Weather: 50°F, 34% chance of rain
The Seahawks should be 5-0. Period.
Even the league's best defense will give up a couple of touchdowns if the opponent is starting drives in their territory. The turnovers need to get fixed quickly or this could be a very disappointing season.
Denver will be a tough place to play, especially for a Seattle team on a short week after a physically taxing game vs the Niners. Both clubs played Sunday, so nobody has the rest edge here — but I don't know if there's enough time to fix the turnover woes.
PREDICTION: DENVER 23, SEATTLE 20

SUNDAY MORNING IN LONDON
HOUSTON TEXANS @
JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS
Sunday, October 18 | 6:30 AM PT | NFL Network
Line: Jaguars -3 | O/U: 42.5
Weather: Wembley Stadium, London
The Jags are on the second week of their English vacation. I hope Trevor Lawrence is doing some sightseeing, especially with how his team was trying to sabotage him in the fourth quarter with all the false starts and procedural penalties.
Meanwhile, the Texans finally got their first win of the season vs the lowly Titans.
It will be interesting to see how well adjusted the Jags are to London with this being their second week there. I think it works in their favour.
PREDICTION: JACKSONVILLE 24, HOUSTON 20

SUNDAY EARLY SLATE
CHICAGO BEARS @
ATLANTA FALCONS
Sunday, October 18 | 10:00 AM PT | FOX
Line: Bears -3 | O/U: 49.5
Weather: Indoors at Mercedes-Benz Stadium
Michael Penix left the game injured — he came back for a snap before overtime — and Tua threw the game-sealing pick in OT to seal the Falcons' fate in a game they should have won.
Watch this one: Penix is questionable with a rib injury and an MRI pending. If he can't go, Tua makes his first start for Atlanta, and that changes how I feel about this number.
Chicago got throttled at Green Bay, 31-7. I'm not reading into that one too much, considering the Bears offense just isn't the same without Caleb Williams, who is questionable to return this week with a hamstring strain.
PREDICTION: CHICAGO 27, ATLANTA 17

BALTIMORE RAVENS @
CLEVELAND BROWNS
Sunday, October 18 | 10:00 AM PT | FOX
Line: Ravens -4.5 | O/U: 41.5
Weather: 59°F, gusting to 21 mph
It's weird being this aroused for a Cleveland Browns game. Ain't nobody thought that both of these teams would be above .500 for this matchup.
Cleveland almost pulled out the win vs the Jets in an absolute downpour, while the Ravens were able to ride King Henry and take the will out of their opponent in overtime.
Lamar is officially questionable with an ankle sprain, but if he's back he'll be the difference maker he always is. The Ravens are 3-0 on the road, while Cleveland is 2-0 at home.
Give me the Ravens in a nail biter.
PREDICTION: RAVENS 26, BROWNS 20

TENNESSEE TITANS @
INDIANAPOLIS COLTS
Sunday, October 18 | 10:00 AM PT | FOX
Line: Colts -7 | O/U: 44.5
Weather: Indoors at Lucas Oil Stadium
It doesn't get any easier for the Titans. It just seems like they're outclassed in every matchup, and the real problem is that they can't score — 11.6 points a game, dead last in the league.
That won't change here vs the Colts, who should be able to control this one from the front.
PREDICTION: COLTS 31, TITANS 17

NEW YORK JETS @
NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS
Sunday, October 18 | 10:00 AM PT | CBS
Line: Patriots -7.5 | O/U: 43.5
Weather: 51°F, gusting to 21 mph
Don't look now, but the Pats seem to have gotten their groove back.
Most likely it's that Drake Maye has gained his confidence back, and that offense has more pep in their step. You can tell on the tape.
The Jets were able to squeak one out vs a good Cleveland team. Unfortunately, I think the Pats defense will be able to generate enough pressure — eleven sacks already, and most of it coming from outside rather than up the gut — to make their quarterback uncomfortable, which will lead to some very questionable throws.
PREDICTION: NEW ENGLAND 27, JETS 13

NEW ORLEANS SAINTS @
NEW YORK GIANTS
Sunday, October 18 | 10:00 AM PT | FOX
Line: Saints -1.5 | O/U: 45.5
Weather: 58°F
What the heck has happened to the Saints? They were everyone's NFC South favourite the first two weeks and now have lost three in a row.
Meanwhile the Giants keep pulling out wins and ties with Jameis at quarterback and timely defense.
I like the G-Men at MetLife.
PREDICTION: GIANTS 23, SAINTS 20

CAROLINA PANTHERS @
PHILADELPHIA EAGLES
Sunday, October 18 | 10:00 AM PT | CBS
Line: Eagles -1.5 | O/U: 40.5
Weather: 57°F
Carolina had an entire bye week to prep for Philly while the Eagles limp home after getting their wings clipped across the pond.
I imagine this Philly team will be demoralized and I really like the Panthers to take their will this game.
PREDICTION: PANTHERS 24, EAGLES 13

PITTSBURGH STEELERS @
TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS
Sunday, October 18 | 10:00 AM PT | CBS
Line: Steelers -2.5 | O/U: 39.5
Weather: 80°F, gusting to 20 mph
The Steelers offense has been clicking on all cylinders the last few weeks, reminding me of the Packers of old when Rodgers was… in his thirties?
Meanwhile, Tampa was able to beat the Cowboys and will look to salvage their season in a tough matchup. Jalon Daniels has been decent, but three games is usually when teams get a good idea of what you're doing — and with Baker Mayfield out, it's Daniels again.
I like the Steelers here, though it's worth saying they're 0-2 on the road and averaging 13.5 points in those two.
PREDICTION: STEELERS 27, BUCCANEERS 10
SUNDAY LATE SLATE
ARIZONA CARDINALS @
LOS ANGELES RAMS
Sunday, October 18 | 1:05 PM PT | FOX
Line: Rams -12.5 | O/U: 51.5
Weather: 86°F under the SoFi canopy
The Rams lost a heartbreaker to the Bills while the Cardinals got absolutely destroyed at home vs the Lions.
The Rams are slowly letting this season slip away. They're third in the West now — a game behind Seattle and three behind the Niners — and need this win to stay in it.
PREDICTION: RAMS 38, CARDINALS 17

LOS ANGELES CHARGERS @
KANSAS CITY CHIEFS
Sunday, October 18 | 1:25 PM PT | CBS
Line: Chiefs -8.5 | O/U: 42.5
Weather: 64°F, gusting to 21 mph
Yikes. When are the Chargers going to get their first win?
Speaking of cannons, Patty Mahomes has benefited from the addition of Kenneth Walker, as teams can no longer play cover 2 and cover 4 like they used to.
Gimme da Chieeeefs.
PREDICTION: CHIEFS 24, CHARGERS 10

BUFFALO BILLS @
LAS VEGAS RAIDERS
Sunday, October 18 | 1:25 PM PT | CBS
Line: Bills -5.5 | O/U: 53.5
Weather: Indoors at Allegiant Stadium
Kirk Cousins has begun to look like the Kirk of old — 12 touchdowns to 4 picks and 65% through five games is the best he's thrown in a while.
I don't think Buffalo will be able to generate the same pass rush, so I kind of like another shootout here.
PREDICTION: BILLS 38, RAIDERS 24

SUNDAY NIGHT
DALLAS COWBOYS @
GREEN BAY PACKERS
Sunday, October 18 | 5:20 PM PT | NBC
Line: Packers -1.5 | O/U: 52.5
Weather: 56°F, gusting to 22 mph
Green Bay and Dallas are weird. It's almost like these two teams did a complete 180 in last week's games.
Dallas was rolling but lost a shocker to Tampa Bay. The Packers were able to right the ship and blast the Bears in the second half.
This could get ugly for the Cowboys if they haven't shored up their run defense in time.
PREDICTION: PACKERS 26, COWBOYS 21

MONDAY NIGHT
WASHINGTON COMMANDERS @
SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS
Monday, October 19 | 5:15 PM PT | ESPN/ABC
Line: 49ers -7.5 | O/U: 50.5
Weather: 66°F, 25% chance of rain
The Niners were able to steal one away in Seattle thanks to a plethora of turnovers that set them up in great field position. Great teams capitalize in those situations, and the Niners certainly did.
Meanwhile, the Commanders displayed anything but good football, when Jayden Daniels appeared to forget they were out of timeouts and let the clock hit zero in overtime, resulting in a tie.
What the hell, man.
PREDICTION: 49ERS 31, COMMANDERS 24
