Buffalo Bills @ Los Angeles Rams — Predictions & 3 Best Bets
Monday Night Football gives us one of the best quarterback matchups we've had all season.
Josh Allen vs. Matthew Stafford.
Buffalo vs. Los Angeles.
And potentially?
A Super Bowl preview.
The Bills enter Monday night at 3-1 after suffering their first loss of the season against New England, while the Rams come in at 2-2 after completing a fourth-quarter comeback against Philadelphia.
Los Angeles is favored at home.
And apparently...
I'M TAKING THAT PERSONALLY.
Because my favorite bet tonight isn't Buffalo +3.
I don't want the points.
GIVE ME THE BILLS TO WIN THE DAMN GAME.
Here's how I'm attacking Monday Night Football.
BEST BET #1
BUFFALO BILLS MONEYLINE +147
This is my favorite bet tonight.
Buffalo hasn't played particularly clean football over the last two weeks.
They turned the ball over five times against the Chargers and somehow survived.
Then they turned it over twice against New England and finally paid for it, losing 29-26.
That's concerning.
But I'm willing to bet on something pretty simple tonight:
Josh Allen responds.
We're talking about one of the best quarterbacks on the planet coming off a disappointing divisional loss and entering Monday night as an underdog.
That's exactly the type of spot where I want Allen.
Los Angeles is absolutely capable of winning this game.
Matthew Stafford is playing at an extremely high level. Puka Nacua is back. Davante Adams gives this offense another weapon, and Kyren Williams can punish Buffalo if the Bills don't control the line of scrimmage.
But if this turns into a quarterback duel?
Give me Allen.
Buffalo needs to clean up the turnovers, establish James Cook early and force Los Angeles to respect the running game.
Do that and the entire offense opens up.
And unlike taking Buffalo +3, the moneyline gives us plus money on a team I believe can win outright.
No points needed.
BEST BET: BUFFALO BILLS MONEYLINE
BEST BET #2
JOSH ALLEN OVER 246.5 PASSING YARDS
If Buffalo is going to win this game, Josh Allen is probably going to have to be the reason.
The Rams have the defensive front to make Buffalo work for everything on the ground.
And with Aaron Donald back in the lineup?
I'm expecting Los Angeles to make stopping James Cook a priority.
That's where Allen comes in.
The Rams offense should also score enough to prevent Buffalo from simply sitting on the football and grinding away the clock.
That means attempts.
And attempts are exactly what we want.
Allen doesn't need some ridiculous 350-yard performance to cash this.
We're asking for 247 yards.
In a game with a total north of 50.
Against Matthew Stafford.
On Monday Night Football.
I'll take my chances.
And if the Rams jump out to an early lead?
Even better for this bet.
Buffalo will have no choice but to put the football in Allen's hands.
BEST BET: JOSH ALLEN OVER 246.5 PASSING YARDS
BEST BET #3
PUKA NACUA OVER 90.5 RECEIVING YARDS
Yes.
We're betting against Buffalo with one of our props while simultaneously taking the Bills to win.
That's perfectly fine.
Because Buffalo can win this football game while Puka Nacua has a monster night.
And I think he might.
Nacua returned against Philadelphia and immediately reminded everyone what kind of weapon he is.
Nine catches.
125 yards.
And now he gets a Buffalo secondary that has been vulnerable through the first month of the season.
That's a problem.
Matthew Stafford trusts Puka.
Sean McVay knows how to manufacture touches for him.
And in a game where I'm expecting both quarterbacks to have success, Nacua should see plenty of opportunities.
The number is high.
90.5 isn't cheap.
But that's because we're betting on one of the highest-volume receivers in football.
And if Buffalo jumps ahead like I'm predicting?
Los Angeles will have to throw even more.
Give me Puka to clear 100.
BEST BET: PUKA NACUA OVER 90.5 RECEIVING YARDS
THE MATCHUP THAT DECIDES THE GAME
Buffalo's biggest problem tonight isn't Matthew Stafford.
It isn't Puka Nacua.
It isn't Davante Adams.
It's whether the Bills can keep Josh Allen comfortable against the Rams' defensive front.
Aaron Donald is back.
That's massive.
Buffalo cannot allow Los Angeles to consistently create pressure with four rushers.
Because if the Rams can get home without blitzing?
That's when things become difficult.
But there's another side to this.
Allen is one of the few quarterbacks in football who can turn a completely broken play into a 25-yard gain.
Pressure doesn't automatically beat Josh Allen.
Sometimes it creates exactly the type of chaos where he's at his best.
And I think we're going to see plenty of that tonight.
DON'T FORGET WHAT HAPPENED LAST TIME
The last time these teams met was absolute insanity.
Los Angeles won 44-42.
Josh Allen threw three touchdowns.
Then he ran for three more.
The guy accounted for six touchdowns and Buffalo still lost.
That's absurd.
I'm not expecting another 86-point nuclear explosion tonight.
But with Allen and Stafford on opposite sidelines?
I wouldn't exactly bet against some fireworks.
HOW I SEE IT PLAYING OUT
Los Angeles comes out aggressively.
Stafford gets Puka involved immediately and the Rams move the football.
Buffalo answers with James Cook and uses the running game to keep the Rams pass rush honest.
Then the game becomes what everybody wants it to become:
ALLEN VS. STAFFORD.
Back and forth.
Big throws.
A couple ridiculous Allen scrambles.
Puka goes over 100.
And with about four minutes remaining, Stafford gives Los Angeles the lead.
Then Josh Allen gets the football.
Monday Night Football.
On the road.
Down late.
Exactly the situation superstars are built for.
Allen leads Buffalo down the field and gets the Bills into the end zone.
Los Angeles gets one final opportunity...
And Buffalo's defense finally makes the play it needs.
Ballgame.
FINAL SCORE
BILLS 31, RAMS 28
Buffalo gets the bounce-back win.
Josh Allen reminds everybody why he's Josh Allen.
And the Bills leave Los Angeles with one of the biggest wins of their season.
