NCAA WEEK TWO GAMES OF THE WEEK
FRIDAY NIGHT
MISSOURI -5.5 VS KANSAS O/U 51.5
Rock Chalk Jayhawk. Both of these teams looked really good week one but Mizzou still has to find a replacement for Ahmad Hardy, who is most likely being rested until SEC play begins, as he recovers from a gun shot wound. The last time these rivals played in Lawrence, Mizzou was a five point favorite and lost 13-3. Sound familiar? Give me the Jayhawks in the Friday Night Primetime Slot.
PREDICTION: KANSAS 31, MIZZOU 28
BEST BET: KANSAS +5.5.
SATURDAY
OKLAHOMA -5.0 VS MICHIGAN
Public Enemy number one gets the national spotlight when they welcome Heisman Trophy candidate John Mateer and the Oklahoma Sooners in the back end of a home and home series. Oklahoma will definitely become America's team if they are able to demolish Michigan after the utter embarrassment and robbery that occurred versus Western Michigan last Saturday. In case you don’t remember, Michigan was essentially gifted another second (who knows where it came from) after they threw their first Hail Mary into the crowd and then proceeded to score on the next play and win 13-12, which then led to history as the crowd of a Power 4 Blue Blood stormed the field versus a non Power 4 opponent for the first time ever. How embarrassing. Unfortunately, though, justice is rarely served whenever it truly should be. THIS WEEK ISN’T THE CASE THOUGH. GIVE ME OKLAHOMA IN A BLOWOUT.
PREDICTION: OKLAHOMA 30, MICHIGAN 7
BEST BET: MICHIGAN TEAM TOTAL UNDER 19.5
OREGON -23.5 VS OKLAHOMA STATE O/U 56.5
Oklahoma State was absolutely embarrassed last year in Eugene. I would say that would be motivation for OK State, but only a couple players remain, as this new roster contains a lot of players from North Texas that came with the new coach, Eric Morris. Boise State nearly pulled off the upset last week by pounding the rock and staying on schedule. Unfortunately, OK State is built to pass the ball and definitely doesn’t have the same running game as Boise. This game could go south really quick, especially considering how potent Oregon’s pass rush and secondary is.
PROJECTION: OREGON 38, OK STATE 10
BEST BET: OK STATE TEAM TOTAL UNDER 17.5
UCF +7 VS PITTSBURGH O/U 56.5
Two of the best QBs face off in the mid day slate. UCF handed the reins to transfer portal darling Alonzo Barnett, while Pittsburgh fully believes in the capability of 2nd year QB Mason Heintschel. I have UCF as a potential dark horse to win the Big 12 and fully expect Barnett to keep them in this game.
PROJECTION: UCF 34, PITT 31
BEST BET: UCF +7
MISSISSIPPI STATE -1.0 VS MINNESOTA O/U 55.5
Minnesota is 3-1 versus SEC opponents in their last 4 matchups. Granted all of them came in bowls, but that’s still very impressive. Minnesota is the prototypical B1G team and I expect them to control the clock and bring the physicality versus an improved Mississippi State squad. Minnesota also features a 2nd year QB who Coach Fleck is very high on. Give me the Gophers at home bud.
PREDICTION: MINN 24, MISS ST 20
BEST BET: MISS STATE TEAM TOTAL UNDER 27.5
ARIZONA +7.0 VS BYU O/U 48.0
Noah Fifita enters his last year as one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play at Arizona. If Arizona can play turnover free, I can see them potentially winning this game to kick off Big 12 play. What an upset that would be.
PREDICTION: BYU 23, ZONA 17
BEST BETS: ZONA +7
UTSA +1.5 VS TEXAS STATE O/U 66.5
These two teams are separated by only 57 miles. If you like offense, this is the matchup for you, as both teams have arguably the best quarterbacks in their respective conferences. Texas State has won the last two, and I expect them to pull out another one in what should be a high flying classic.
PREDICTION: TEXAS STATE 38, UTSA 34
BEST BETS: OVER 66.5
UNLV -3.0 VS NORTH TEXAS O/U 57.5
UNLV got a much needed win vs Hawaii last week in Honolulu to save their CFP aspirations. UNLV’s offense was supposed to be the bright spot coming into this year but has yet to show up. I expect that to change versus a vulnerable and inexperienced North Texas team.
PREDICTION: UNLV 31, NORTH TEXAS 20
BEST BETS: UNLV MONEYLINE
MEMPHIS +8 VS BOISE STATE O/U 56.5
For the first two weeks, Memphis has handled their business and emerged as a potential CFP candidate. Those aspirations may take a major hit this Saturday, as they travel to Boise to play the Broncos on the infamous blue turf. The Broncos, fresh off a near upset of top 5 power Oregon, will be looking to get their swagger back and first victory of the season.
PREDICTION: BOISE STATE 31, MEMPHIS 21
BEST BET: BOISE STATE MONEYLINE
OHIO STATE +1.5 VS TEXAS O/U 49.5
Last year's week one game was a defensive slugfest full of missed opportunities and jitters. I expect all of that to change this Saturday, since both teams were each able to play a tune up game and looked outstanding. Texas brought in a ton of talent to help out Arch Manning on both sides of the ball and return with a much more experienced offensive line. On the other side, Ohio State brings back their outstanding quarterback Julian Sayin and potential number one overall pick Jeremiah Smith at receiver along with Bo Jackson at running back. However, Ohio State lost a ton of defensive players to the NFL Draft, so there are some vulnerabilities in the secondary that Texas will be able to take advantage of. If you have plans at 4:30 (7:30 EST), cancel them. There’s 3 billion women on earth, but only a couple of great games every season. The math seems pretty simple to me.
PREDICTION: TEXAS 31, OHIO STATE 24
BEST BETS: TEXAS MONEYLINE
MONTANA STATE -3.5 VS NEVADA O/U 49.5
Nevada looked terrific last week versus Western Kentucky and Reno hasn’t been this excited about their football team since Kaepernick was on campus. While Montana State does plan an entire level below Nevada, North Dakota State has proven in their first couple of weeks that FCS teams (especially championship caliber FCS teams) are more than capable of playing great football. This is one of the more anticipated games in recent history for the Wolfpack and will be a great test for Nevada as they look to go 2-0 for the first time since 2022. THE PACK IS BACK BABY!!!
PREDICTION: NEVADA 27, MONTANA STATE 23
BEST BET: Nevada +3
